Jacqueline de Ribes, Black and White Silk Chiffon and Viscose Velvet Dress

Description

Deep V-neck bordered with broad (4.75") black viscose velvet bands overlapping below the breast line and running around the body at waist and center back neck. Bodice consists of micro-leopard print silk chiffon ("mousseline") lined with flesh color chiffon tank, and dolmen sleeves set directly into the velvet bands. Sleeve cuffs close tightly around the wrist in 5" black metal zipper covered in a flap. Closures consist of fabric-covered snaps running along with the velvet band and center-front slit running 6.5" below the velvet band. Silk chiffon skirting gather is set directly into the velvet band and is made of three plies of the same micro-print for opacity purposes. Vertical pockets are sewn along side seam into silk skirting.

Curator Notes

Excellent condition. Fabric-covered snaps show sign of wear, particularly chiffon-covered. Slight nicks in the light chiffon. No indication of discoloration or insect bites.
