Curator Notes
Good condition. Brocade fabric is stained and beginning to tear and fray. Woven metal button coverings have frayed on three buttons and two out of the three are missing their wooden structure. Padding has been inserted under waistcoat to provide the proper silhouette. This garment was completely made by hand as sewing machines had not yet been invented.
Good condition. Vest is stained and sleeve lining in tailcoat has shattered. Owner's name, date, "Feb 18/47," and New York address handwritten inside vest.
