Good condition. Fabric covering buttons are disintegrating, one button missing. Wrinkles have been released as much as possible without damaging garment. Ghost bustle has been created under the peplum at back to create proper silhouette. Fabric has shattered at neckline. Minor staining on bodice.
Good condition. Steel hoops have rusted to the canvas casing. Length does not indicate height of wearer. Hoops slightly misshapen from wear. Laces do not match, which indicates they have been replaced at some point in this garment's history.
Good condition. Front buckle closure is missing. Twill tape waistband shows evidence of damage and subsequent repair. Large steel staples are connecting the bustle to the twill tape.
Spiral bustle covered in silk with attached pillow.

Good condition. Spiral structure beginning to rust onto the silk, creating holes in the fabric. Brass coating on the steel spirals has come off, causing the steel to oxidize and rust.
Good condition. Light damage and fraying on binding of brim edge and hat band. Crown is misshapen. Edge of crown completely bald. There is a photo of the owner holding the hat on his wedding trip in 1883.
Brown, cotton petticoat with horizontal bustle boning, silk hem and one pocket on the right side.

Fair condition. Pocket beginning to separate from petticoat, cotton fabric torn near waistband. Metal bustle boning has flattened, top boning band is broken and missing a piece, and boning casements have torn at edges where they meet the skirt. The back closures show evidence of being removed and re-sewn.

Poor condition. Moth holes scattered throughout. Staining all over bodice. Closures missing underneath bow at neckline. Right sleeve has been damaged at the armscye. Repair has caused the shoulder cap to be uneven. The silk ruffles at the edges of the sleeves are damaged. The right sleeve is missing its buttons. The front seams show evidence of being let out to possibly accommodate the growth of the wearer. A bustle has been added to provide proper silhouette.
